Historical Lighthouse and Museum Grounds

Perched on the northernmost point of Palm Beach County, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse has guided seafarers since its first lighting in 1860. Rising 105 feet above the surrounding landscape, this towering structure boasts a striking red brick exterior that has weathered the test of time.

As one of Florida’s oldest lighthouses, it holds a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike, serving as a beacon of navigation and a testament to the region’s maritime heritage.

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse offers visitors a chance to delve into the captivating past of the Treasure Coast. The lighthouse’s accompanying museum provides a fascinating glimpse into the area’s maritime history, showcasing exhibits that highlight the lives and stories of the lighthouse keepers and the role they played in safeguarding ships along this treacherous stretch of coastline.

There are several historical buildings to explore, in addition to the museum. Take a map and wonder along the self-guided tour. It’s a nicely landscaped, windy and (mostly) shaded walk through the grounds, on your way to the Lighthouse itself.

Climb to the Top of Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse

The lighthouse is open to the public and if you’re in relatively good shape, it’s worth the 105 steps to the top. The view up top is spectacular. However, if you have bad knees or are afraid of heights, you may want to enjoy it from ground level.

The staircase up is very narrow, and it’s high. But once you’re at the top, the 360 degree view on a clear day is full of never-ending ocean and surrounding Treasure Coast beauty.

There are sunset tours, and guided tours of the lighthouse and grounds as well, so check out the calendar of events and opportunities on the official Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum website here.
