Treasure Coast of Florida

Treasure Coast of Florida is located along the Atlantic Ocean, to the east. This area technically includes Indian River County, Saint Lucie County and Martin County. But the name most often refers to the northern parts of Jupiter through Hobe Sound and Stuart, all the way up the east coast through Vero Beach.

This area was originally named after a massive hurricane in 1715 that wiped out the Spanish Treasure Fleet. Hundreds of Spanish Galleons were shipwrecked along this coastline, pouring mega loads of coins and other treasures onto the ocean floor.

Treasure along the Treasure Coast?

After hurricanes and heavy storms, people with metal detectors head out to the beaches along the Treasure Coast and search for washed up old coins and antiques. Yes, there is apparently still pieces of these treasures that wash up today!

But besides the shipwrecks and lost treasure along the coast, the water and beaches are also considered to be a treasure. The water is a beautiful blue, the beaches are sandy and clean and the Florida weather is (almost always) full of blue skies and sunshine.

The Treasure Coast of Florida has some of the most beautiful oceanfront, fantastic beaches and parks, very Florida gift shops and lots of cool attractions to visit.

Looking for places to stay? There are five star oceanfront resorts to very affordable national chains like Hampton Inn, to great local B&Bs and beach cottages.

There are lots of local things to do, places to see and most are budget-friendly even for large families.

With a little research and planning ahead, there are tons of things to cram in for some fantastically-Florida fun.
