Naples Zoo Primate Cruise on a rainy day

Naples Zoo in Southwest Florida

We visited Naples Zoo and loved it, here's why:

The Naples Zoo is one of our top picks for places to visit while in Southwest Florida. Why?

  • Easily walkable, winding shady paved walkways throughout
  • Unique animal exhibits including Black Bears, Alligators, Primates on an Island!
  • Two cafes offering healthy foods plus  snacks available throughout the park
  • or bring your own food, water bottles, coolers and picnic lunches are welcome
  • Buy wine and beer in the park (can’t bring it in though)
  • Nice gift shop

Not having visited this zoo before, we spent several hours in the park and left without seeing everything. So yes, we plan to visit again soon. We visited on an overcast afternoon and it did end up pouring! We still had fun, and it was fun to see lots of the animals actually enjoying the rain.

The giraffes were out in the rain. And yes, people were still feeding them! There is shade for us humans, and the giraffes seemed to like being out in the rain.

We snacked on frozen chocolate bananas and meandered on the shady winding walkway. We watched black bears playing, gators being fed in their natural habitat and monkeys swinging in the trees on their own island.

Don’t miss the Primate Exhibition Cruise. It’s on our to-do list next time we visit. Make sure you plan ahead with plenty of time.
