Blowing Rocks Preserve Jupiter Island on Hobe Sound, Florida

Blowing Rocks Preserve Jupiter Island is at the northern tip of South Florida, along the Treasure Coast. The water is brilliant blue, the sand is clean and the beach will never be crowded. Why? The Conservatory of Blowing Rocks Preserve does a brilliant job of keeping this Florida ecological hidden gem protected!

Parking

There are only two small parking lots anywhere near Blowing Rocks. One parking lot has about 20 spots available. Then, across the street at the Educational Center there’s another approximate 20 spots. These lots get filled up fast. If you plan to visit, go early or late and be patient!

Blowing Rocks Mangrove Trail to beach

Pay the small fee or leave a donation

You’ll park then enter a small trail. And there’s a little sign so you won’t miss the little entryway, don’t worry. Just inside there’s a wooden boardwalk area in front with a small wooden building. Stop here to get information on high tide, low tide, some safety tips and tour info.

You’ll pay a small fee to enter. If there’s no one at the window collecting fees, make sure to stick your donation in the green tube. Don’t be cheap, help to preserve this hidden Florida gem! [Yes, we watched as people looked right at it and walked by without even thinking of donating. Come on people, help preserve this beach and keep it clean and protected for our next generations!]

Walk through a nice windy unpaved trail of mangroves. This trail leading to the beach is NOT paved. It’s fairly flat and somewhat stable. Walk along this mangrove trail (it’s shady and fairly cool even in summer) until you reach another wooden structure with some benches. From here you’ll see the beach and you’ll need to decide to go right nor left!

You've reach the beach: do you go right nor left?

If you bring sun shades or umbrellas with you, go left. The left side is all sandy and perfect for staking your umbrella. The left side of the beach facing the ocean looks like it goes on forever. There are shells, beautiful clean sand and water, and few people. Yes, very few people!  That’s because the parking is so limited. So you may have had a hard time finding parking when you got there, but by the time you get to the beach you’ll appreciate it!

The right side is where you’ll find the blowing rocks. You can’t miss them! In low tide you’ll see these limestone cliffs rising high above the water. These limestone formations are unique in Florida and simply beautiful. Low tide is just as beautiful, and we recommend visiting both high and low tides.
