Parking

There are only two small parking lots anywhere near the Blowing Rocks Beach access. One parking lot has about 20 spots available. Then, across the street at the Educational Center there’s another approximate 20 spots. These lots get filled up fast. If you plan to visit, go early or late and be patient!

Blowing Rocks Mangrove Trail to beach

Pay the Small Entrance Fee and Take a Nice Stroll Through Mangroves

You’ll park, then enter a small trail marked by a little sign (blink and you’ll miss it!). Just inside, there’s a wooden boardwalk area in front with a small wooden building. Stop here to get information on high tide, low tide, some safety tips and tour info.

You’ll pay a small fee to enter. If there’s no one at the window collecting fees, make sure to stick your donation in the green tube… help to preserve this hidden Florida gem!

Walk through a nice windy trail of mangroves. This trail is not paved, and there can be roots or uneven ground, so the walk may not be suitable or comfortable enough for everyone.

Walk along this mangrove trail (it’s shady and fairly cool even in summer) until you reach another wooden structure with some benches. From here you’ll see the beach and you’ll need to decide… go right or go left!

You've Reached the Beach: Do You Choose to Go Left... or Right?

Left…

If you bring sun shades or umbrellas with you, go left. The left side is all sandy and perfect for staking your umbrella. The left side of the beach facing the ocean looks like it goes on forever.

There are shells, beautiful clean sand and water, and few people. Yes, very few people!  That’s because the parking is so limited. So you may have had a hard time finding parking when you got there, but by the time you get to the beach you’ll appreciate it! Maybe there are situations where a bus drops lots of people off, but we haven’t seen this – only a fairly limited amount of people due to limited parking and remote location of this beach/access.

Right…

The right side is where you’ll find the blowing rocks. You can’t miss them! In low tide you’ll see these limestone cliffs rising high above the water. These limestone formations are unique in Florida and simply beautiful. Low tide is just as beautiful, and we recommend visiting both high and low tides.

Tip: If seeing the “blowing rocks” effect is your main reason for visiting, check the tide before you book your day. The dramatic splash is usually best around high tide when waves are strong enough to crash through the limestone shoreline. See recommended nearby stays below.
