Entrance is a nice gift shop

Open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10a to 4:30p. There’s no entrance fee, but make sure to help them out by giving a donation. The entrance is a gift shop (nice size store, some unique items) where you can place a donation in one of the donation boxes.

You can also pick up a map/brochure to make sure you don’t miss anything! The Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is big, windy, clean and very spread out. You just might love it like we did!

Finding the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary Is Easy

It’s easy to find, just minutes from the Florida Turnpike in Jupiter. We visited for several hours on a Saturday and had a great visit. There’s plenty of easy parking, much of it shaded (in case you visit in summer heat).

You can’t miss the entrance which doubles as a very nice gift shop. They have maps and information on the animals and programs and everyone there was very friendly and happy to share information.

Shady windy pathways lead you throughout the sanctuary. We learned that the approximate 150 animals here were all rescues and rehabilitated but are not able to be released back to their natural habitats. Overall, they rescue and rehabilitate thousands of animals each year and most all of those get released once they are recovered.

We saw black bears, river otters, owls, bald eagles, a bobcat and lots of snakes. There were turtles and turkeys and an alligator “Freddy” celebrating a birthday.

No entrance fee... just donations

But just because they don’t charge a fee doesn’t mean you should be cheap! Drop a few dollars into the green bin in the front gift shop before you head into the park.

They do great work, and you’ll be helping them rescue, rehabilitate and often release these animals back into their natural habitats.

There are also donation boxes in front of many of the animal homes including the river otters which were lots of fun to watch playing in the water.

Don't miss the Pineland Nature Trail

If you aren’t following the map, it’s possible you might miss the Pineland Nature Trail! Watch for it, because you don’t want to miss seeing the black bears and panthers!

Look for bat and bird houses and butterfly gardens along the windy, shady pathway. Walk up the hill to see the Loxahatchee River District and a lake that may or may not have some gators!

By visiting the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, you’re not just enjoying a fun day out; you’re supporting a vital organization dedicated to preserving Florida’s precious wildlife.

So lace up your walking shoes, pack your water bottle, and get ready for an unforgettable journey into the heart of Florida’s wild side!
